ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG is a rapid-setting, non-shrink cementitious plugging compound for stopping active water leaks under pressure in concrete and masonry. It is used in basements, lift pits, tanks, tunnels, pipes, penetrations and wall/floor junctions before permanent waterproofing is completed with the specified FORSPEC detailing and membrane system.Mix with clean water to a stiff putty and press into correctly prepared openings against the water flow. HYDROPLUG is rigid, intended for cementitious substrates only and is not a stand-alone waterproofing membrane or movement-joint sealant.No AS/NZS 4020 drinking-water approval is stated; potable-water applications require written FORSPEC confirmation.

  • Remove loose material, coatings, curing agents, oil, grease and other bond-breaking contamination. Grind cracks, joints and holes to a minimum 20 mm width and depth, increasing to 40 mm for high-volume leaks. Square-cut or dovetail the opening; do not form a V profile. Flush with clean water and keep the cementitious substrate damp. Mix small batches of approximately 0.5 kg manually with a spatula using 150 mL clean water per kilogram of powder. Form a stiff putty, hold in a gloved hand until slight warmth is felt, then press firmly into the opening against the water flow and hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute. After set, moist cure for approximately 15 minutes. Once flow has stopped, complete the detail with ACTFLEX FLEXIPLUG where specified and overcoat with ACTFLEX 988 CWP or the nominated FORSPEC membrane system.

How quickly does ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG set?
At 25°C and 50% RH, HYDROPLUG hand-sets approximately 2–4 minutes after placement, with initial solidification within 5 minutes and final solidification within 10 minutes. Temperature, humidity, ventilation and repair thickness affect actual site times.
Can ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG stop active water leaks?
Yes. HYDROPLUG is intended to stop active water flow through prepared cracks, holes, junctions and penetrations in concrete and masonry. The opening must be correctly prepared, typically square-cut or dovetailed to at least 20 mm width and depth, before the plug is pressed firmly against the water flow.
How much water is used to mix ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG?
Use 150 mL of clean water per 1 kg of HYDROPLUG powder. Mix small batches of approximately 0.5 kg manually with a spatula to a stiff putty consistency. Do not use an electric mixer or alter the stated water ratio.
Is ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG a stand-alone waterproofing membrane?
No. HYDROPLUG is a rapid water-stop and repair compound. After the active flow has been stopped and the plug has set, the detail is completed with ACTFLEX FLEXIPLUG where specified and over-coated with ACTFLEX 988 CWP or the nominated FORSPEC membrane system for permanent waterproofing.
Is ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG approved for potable-water applications?
The current Technical Data Sheet states that HYDROPLUG does not hold AS/NZS 4020 drinking-water approval. Potable-water applications require written confirmation from FORSPEC before use.
What coverage or yield does ACTFLEX HYDROPLUG provide?
Yield is detail-dependent rather than area-based. The current TDS gives worked typicals of about 6 m per 5 kg pail or 25 m per 20 kg pail for a 20 × 20 mm chase, and about 200 or 800 spot plugs respectively for a 20 mm hole × 40 mm deep. Actual consumption varies with cavity geometry, compaction and wastage.
