Adheseal Hi-Flex Construction+ is a single-component, neutral-cure hybrid MS polymer sealant and adhesive for internal and external construction joints. Its low-modulus formulation accommodates up to ±50% joint movement in window perimeters, precast panels and external façade and cladding joints. It bonds to suitable prepared concrete, masonry, timber, aluminium, fibreglass and compatible plastics, subject to adhesion and compatibility testing. The cured seal resists UV exposure and weathering and can be painted with compatible acrylic, oil or rubber-based paints after testing; rigid paints may crack as the joint moves. Supplied in 600mL sausages and cartons of 20, it normally bonds without primer on many substrates, with specified surface treatments for critical or highly stressed joints. It is unsuitable for long-term immersion, internal swimming pools, aquariums, structural glazing, mirror bonding, bituminous surfaces, natural rubber and EPDM.
  • Accommodates up to ±50% movement in correctly designed joints.
  • Resists UV exposure and weathering in external applications.
  • Normally bonds without primer on many substrates, subject to testing and critical-joint preparation requirements.

Technical and product guidance for the item you’re viewing.

  • Moisture-curing; requires access to atmospheric humidity
  • Contains no isocyanates, solvents or acids
  • UV and weathering resistant
  • Low-odour, non-corrosive formulation
  • 1. Check substrate adhesion and compatibility before use; stain-test stone. Do not use on lead, copper, bituminous surfaces, natural rubber, EPDM or materials that leach oils, plasticisers or solvents. Confirm the specific membrane separately; general substrate listing does not establish a waterproofing system approval.
  • 2. Prepare structurally sound, stable, dry, clean surfaces free of contaminants, surface water and continual dampness. Allow concrete to cure for at least 28 days. Avoid application over moisture-vapour transmission or where air entrapment may cause bubbling.
  • 3. Use the two-wipe method with suitable cleaner on impervious surfaces and mask joint edges. Adhesion is normally achieved without primer on many substrates; for critical or highly stressed joints, follow the primer selection advice. Lightly abrade suitable non-porous surfaces and use Adheseal 50A; use Everflex Supaprime for concrete, aerated concrete, renders, mortars and brick. Apply sealant at least 30 minutes and no more than 2 hours after priming; avoid primer puddles.
  • 4. Follow the TDS joint design and confirm external minimum dimensions with Adheseal because the website differs. Maximum joint width is 30 mm and depth 15 mm. Use backing rod for joints deeper than 10 mm and where required to control depth, sized 25% larger than joint width. Prevent three-sided adhesion with the specified polyethylene tape or release agent on flat joints.
  • 5. Load the foil sausage into a suitable gun. For sealing, hold the nozzle at 45° and push the material ahead in a steady continuous motion, maintaining contact with both joint sides.
  • 6. For bonding, apply the specified triangular bead with the nozzle at 90° and compress to no less than 2 mm. Tool with a moistened spatula and remove masking while wet, before skin formation.
  • 7. Allow atmospheric moisture to reach the sealant for curing; do not use in totally confined spaces. Confirm application temperature, skin time and cure rate with Adheseal before scheduling work because the TDS contains conflicting values. Protect curing sealant from incompatible cleaning agents, solvents and alcohol. Test paint adhesion; non-flexible paints may crack over moving joints.
  • 8. Follow the SDS for handling and PPE: gloves and safety glasses, with nitrile gloves identified for intermittent contact. Remove cured excess mechanically; follow the TDS solvent-cleaning instructions for uncured material.
  • Chemistry: single-component, neutral-cure hybrid MS polymer
  • Form: paste; cures with atmospheric moisture
  • Packaging: 600 mL foil sausage; cartons of 20
  • Colours: white (nearest RAL 9003), grey (7047), black (9011)
  • Joint movement: up to ±50%; ASTM C920 Class 50 as stated in the TDS
  • Lap shear strength: 0.65 MPa (ASTM C961)
  • Modulus: 0.41 MPa at 100% elongation (ASTM D412)
  • Specific gravity: 1.48 ±0.05 (TDS)
  • Volatile content by volume: <4%; this is not a VOC concentration in g/L
  • Working time: 25 minutes at 23°C and 50% RH, as listed separately in the TDS; skin-time conflict remains unresolved
  • Service temperature: −40°C to +100°C
  • UV resistance: rated good after 500 hours in the TDS
  • Chemical resistance: water and detergent solutions; moderate resistance to diluted acids and alkalis, petrol and oil for short periods; not approved for long-term immersion
  • Shelf life: 12 months in original packaging; store cool and dry at 10–35°C
  • SDS: not classified as hazardous under Safe Work Australia criteria or as dangerous goods for road/rail transport
  • Skin time, cure rate, application temperature, hardness, elongation and supplier codes require clarification because manufacturer sources differ; no numeric VOC value has been established
