Choose by Application

Use these categories as an initial guide. The required slip classification must still be determined for the specific location.

Internal Wet Areas

  • Bathrooms and showers
  • Amenities
  • Changing rooms

Generally associated with the relevant P3/P4 system depending on project requirements.

Balconies & Outdoor Areas

  • Balconies and verandas
  • Courtyards and walkways
  • Outdoor entries

The TDS identifies P4 for many of these applications.

Ramps & Higher-Risk Areas

  • External ramps
  • Sloping driveways and footpaths
  • Loading areas and commercial kitchens

P4 or P5 may be required depending on application and slope.

Commercial & Public Areas

  • Hotel lobbies
  • Shopping centres and food courts
  • Offices and public amenities

Selection depends on wet exposure and the required slip resistance.

Slip Resistance Without Hiding the Existing Finish

A transparent topical coating designed to improve slip resistance while allowing the existing surface appearance to remain visible. A test area is recommended because substrate, sheen, application method and lighting can affect the final appearance.

  • Transparent
  • Water-based
  • Dual-component polyurethane
  • UV-resistant and non-yellowing
  • Interior and exterior use
  • Topical surface sealer that repels water

Important: This product is not intended to rectify failed waterproofing, rising damp or negative hydrostatic moisture conditions.

Suitable Surfaces

The TDS identifies compatibility with a broad range of properly prepared substrates used internally and externally.

Tiles & mineral surfaces

Tiles, ceramics, natural and engineered stone, marble, sandstone, terracotta, bluestone, slate and other porous stone materials.

Sheet & coated surfaces

Fibre cement, acrylic coatings, polyurethane coatings and epoxy coatings.

Other identified substrates

Timber, metal and glass, subject to preparation, adhesion testing and system assessment.

Adhesion and suitability must be confirmed where the surface contains unknown coatings, sealers, nano treatments or water-repellent treatments. Do not apply over nano or other repellent treatments without appropriate assessment and testing.

System Components

The complete installation is a prepared, primed and accurately mixed coating system—not coating alone.

Surface preparation

Thoroughly clean the substrate; remove dirt, dust, contamination, loose material and flaking coatings. Allow it to become completely dry.

Stellmann Clear Primer

Apply the nominated primer before Non-Slip Clear. Dilute 1:1 with water, apply a thin film, avoid puddling and allow approximately 30 minutes at room temperature.

Part A

Mechanically mix Part A at low speed for 5 minutes before use.

Part B

Measure and combine with Part A at 5:1 by weight using a clean vessel and electrical precision scale; mix at low speed for at least 5 minutes.

Slip-rating system

Use the system and particle component applicable to the nominated classification. P5/R12 specifically references Stellmann P5 particles.

Kit contents vary by selected rating. P5/R12 specifically uses the applicable Stellmann P5 particle system. Confirm the supplied components for the selected Shopify variant before application.

Typical Application Process

Follow the current TDS, Safety Data Sheets and installation manual. Complete a test area where substrate condition, adhesion or appearance is uncertain.

  1. Clean

Remove dirt, dust, contamination, loose material and flaking coatings. Wash clean and allow the surface to become thoroughly dry.

  2. Prime

Dilute Stellmann Clear Primer 1:1 with water. Apply a thin film without puddling and allow approximately 30 minutes at room temperature.

  3. Mix

Mix by weight: Part A : Part B = 5 : 1. Pre-mix Part A, weigh accurately and mechanically mix the combined components at low speed for at least 5 minutes.

  4. Apply

Apply one even coat at a nominal 72 g/m². Do not second-coat, dry roll or roll back into completed sections. Use mixed coating within 45 minutes.

  5. Cure

Protect the area while curing. Temperature, humidity, porosity and application conditions affect drying and trafficability.

Part A + Part B Mixing Calculator

Enter the Part A weight. The 5:1 ratio is calculated by weight—not volume.

Required Part B40 g
Total mixed weight240 g

Use a clean vessel and electrical precision scale. Part B = Part A × 0.2; total mixed weight = Part A × 1.2.

Cure Timeline

Tack free90–180 min
Light pedestrian traffic12 hours
Full chemical cure5 days

Benchmark conditions: 23°C and 50% RH. Temperature, humidity and substrate porosity can alter cure times. The TDS also describes the coating as touch dry in approximately 60 minutes.

Application Conditions

Air temperature15°C–35°C
Substrate temperature15°C–35°C
Relative humidityMaximum 85%
Concrete moistureBelow 10%
  • Do not apply when rain threatens or RH is above, or likely to exceed, 85% shortly after application.
  • Do not apply over faulty waterproofing, high substrate moisture, rising damp or negative hydrostatic pressure.
  • Record substrate temperature, moisture, RH and dew point before application.
  • Do not start in direct sun above 30°C; contact Stellmann Technical regarding HVLP spray application.

Avoid These Common Application Errors

Do not mix by volume

Measure Part A and Part B by weight using an electrical precision scale.

Do not double-coat

The non-slip system is a single-coat application.

Do not roll back

Overlapping or double application can leave a translucent or whitish appearance.

Do not apply to damp substrates

Confirm the surface is dry and within the stated moisture limits.

Assess repellent treatments

Nano sealers and other repellent treatments can prevent adhesion.

Do not coat failed waterproofing

This topical coating is not a remedy for underlying waterproofing failure.

Tested Slip Resistance

Stellmann Non-Slip Clear PRO has been tested in accordance with AS/NZS 4586:2013. The TDS lists Wet Pendulum Slider 96 classifications P3, P4 and P5, and Wet Pendulum Slider 55 classifications P3, P4 and P5. P5/R12 is available with the applicable Stellmann P5 particle system.

The required slip classification must be determined for the specific location. The selected system, application method and manufacturer requirements must be followed; purchasing a kit alone does not establish project compliance or guarantee the installed classification.
