WMA UV SPEC is H2O Supplies’ go-to waterproofing membrane, trusted by builders and applicators for its balance of performance, durability and ease of use. This water-based polyurethane acrylic membrane is
  • UV stable for exposed applications
  • Class III membrane
  • Internal and external waterproofing
Calculating estimated delivery
  • Does not re-emulsify once cured
  • Fast curing and easy to apply
  • Seamless and flexible finish
  • Resistant to salt and carbon attack
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Tintable in a range of grey shades
  • Surface preparation
  • Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, sound and smooth. Remove laitance, grease, oil, wax, curing compounds, loose material, paint and other bond-breaking contaminants. Point masonry flush and repair defects. Cure new concrete for at least 28 days or prime with WMA Aquastatic Epoxy. Cement screeds must be fully cured or epoxy primed.
  • Priming
  • Prime porous plasterboard and cement boards with WMA GP Primer. Prime green screed or concrete with WMA Aquastatic Epoxy at not less than 1 L per 4 m² and allow to dry. WMA Aquastatic Epoxy is required for exposed external areas; timber and particleboard; bitumen; and substrates where entrapped moisture may cause bubbling. Prepare and etch-prime metal, treating rust first where present.
  • Detailing
  • Form cured flexible sealant fillets at corners. Fill and seal joints, gaps and cracks with an appropriate polyurethane or equivalent waterproof sealant and allow it to cure. Reinforce jointed areas, corners and cracks with suitable mesh or bandage tape, fully saturating the fabric without wrinkles or bubbles. Rebate floor wastes and puddle flanges into the floor. Embed required plastic or metal angles into a continuous, gap-free bed of polyurethane sealant or mastic.
  • Application
  • After the primer has dried, stir UV SPEC thoroughly. Apply by brush or roller in a minimum two-coat system. Apply the first coat at a minimum 0.85 mm WFT and, once dry, the second coat at a minimum 0.85 mm WFT. Three or more coats may be used to achieve an equivalent result. Achieve at least 1.0 mm DFT on floors and 0.5 mm DFT on walls. Check wet-film thickness regularly with a WFT gauge.
  • Drying and curing
  • Allow 6–12 hours between coats. Allow 36 hours before tiling and four days curing before flood testing. Allow longer in cooler or damp conditions. Drying and curing vary with substrate porosity, ventilation, weather and application technique.
